This Morning: Alison and Dermot open the show
This Morning fans have stirred the pot of speculation, believing that the latest episode may not be all it claims to be. One theory doing the rounds online is that it may not be a live broardcast.
Eyes were rolling on (December 30) when fans expected a live installement and were instead greeted by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary. This unexpected presenting pair set alarm bells ringing, hinting that things might not be quite right.
Discourse heated up on X the platform formerly known as Twitter where viewers recalled Alison's earlier declaration of an on-screen hiatus until January due to her Birmingham pantomime stint.
Due to her prio announcement, suspicions that the This Morning episode was pre-recorded arose quickly, with no confirmation or denial from ITV. Dissatisfied viewers wasted no time taking to their devices, venting their frustration with comments like: "This feels prerecorded still #thismorning."
Another chipped in: "#thismorning Right definitely pre recorded.", reports the Mirror.

Some used schedule conflicts as evidence, remarking: "Alison is doing panto today at 14:30... in Birmingham. Are we led to believe that she will make it from this live show London in time? #ThisMorning."
Quarrels continued as another stated: "Yeah this is deffo prerecorded bet their not back till the new year now why don't they just take it off till it's back live #thismorning."
And yet another viewer grumbled: "Just have a day off This Morning." Viewers were left grumbling over the episode of This Morning, which seemed to be padded out with recycled interviews from the vault, including a segment featuring Jon Bon Jovi and Shania Twain.
One disgruntled fan tweeted: "We're now being shown a pre-recording of a pre-recording... #ThisMorning." Another viewer echoed the frustration, posting: "Not more past interviews, we didn't enjoy them then and we're still not enjoying them now, sort it out #thismorning."
Despite the complaints, Alison Hammond appeared to confirm that the show was indeed broadcasting live. She mentioned to her co-host Dermot O'Leary that she would be performing in a pantomime later that day.
She clarified that she would return to the stage at the Birmingham Hippodrome for "this afternoon and this evening" performances once they wrapped up the day's episode of This Morning.
The mix-up among viewers might stem from Alison's announcement a few weeks prior that it was her last day on This Morning, as she would be returning in January after a break, which had left her fans disappointed. The beloved Birmingham presenter is taking time off to focus on other ventures.
Currently, Alison is dazzling audiences as The Magical Mermaid in Peter Pan at the Birmingham Hippodrome, a show that kicked off on December 21, 2024, and will run until February 2, 2025.
With a history in pantomime, the former Big Brother contestant also shone in last year's production of Jack and the Beanstalk at the same venue, where she played the spirit of the bean.
Alison confirmed her hiatus from ITV, announcing to viewers: "See you in January. Happy Christmas."
This Morning airs daily on ITV1, from 10am
