The Grand Tour: One For The Road - Official trailer

The last-ever episode of The Grand Tour is coming to Amazon Prime, but it seems the show’s famous trio might not be completely done with their adventures together yet. As fans prepare to watch Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May reunite for a final time, the latter spoke about what the future holds for the friends.

Speaking ahead of the release of The Grand Tour: One for the Road, James talked about the possibility of teaming up with Richard once more. It comes after the gang set out on one more epic adventure through Zimbabwe in three cards they’ve always wanted to own: a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-litre, and a Triumph Stag.

Discussing possible upcoming travel plans after the finale, James admitted: “We haven't planned anything, but I don't think it will be possible to completely shake them off. I could try.

“I mean, Hammond’s already asked me if I want to join him in France to drive a car back and I'm thinking, well, maybe I do. We can do that without anybody filming it. We can just do it for fun,” he added.

Elsewhere, Richard offered a more emotional admission about the series coming to an end, remarking: “I'll be really honest, and they’ll mock me for this, but I'll miss them terribly. We’ve worked together for twenty years.

“We’ve worked hard, and we have to egg each other on, and it’s never just loafing about. So, it'd be difficult to recreate that situation.

“If I go over and visit Jeremy at his farm, it would be to go over and relax. That's not the same as having to get up at five in the morning and drive for eight hours through the jungle.”

Meanwhile, Jeremy reflected on the way the three of them reacted to their final day of filming, explaining: “I'm not saying this in a derogatory way by any means, but James has the emotions of a stone.

“He just doesn't do emotions, so there were no tears from him. Hammond, yes,” he acknowledged.

“I was surprisingly unemotional in a weird way because I can see James and Hammond any time I want to, they’re only a phone call away, and I’m sure we will.”

Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour comprises five series and a staggering total of 43 episodes, having first launched back in 2016.

Many fans will also know Jeremy, Richard and James for their long stint presenting the car programme Top Gear for the BBC before they departed in 2015.

The Grand Tour: One for the Road launches globally on 13 September only on Prime Video.
