Paul Sinha had the 'worst week of his life' after heart bypass

Paul Sinha, famed for his role on The Chase, has opened up about enduring "the worst week of my life" amidst a serious health scare.

In a candid discussion on Good Morning Britain, the 54 year old quizmaster recounted his particularly rough time dealing with health issues including his Parkinson's diagnosis.

While speaking with Charlotte Hawkins and Richard Madeley, he recounted how last year he faced a grave situation after suffering two heart attacks during his time at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2023 - a fact that had been kept within his inner circle until recently.

Quizzed by Charlotte about his health on the show, she enquired: "That's not your only health battle, is it? I know you had to stop your performances at Edinburg Fringe because of a heart attack, didn't you? You've now had a heart bypass, how are you?"

Paul responded, shedding light on his struggles: "It's a busy 12 months, it's been fine. But I had the worst week of my life in December being in hospital for a bypass operation. It was an extraordinarily dramatic week for me.

"You've got to keep fighting, keep battling, you don't have any other options really. People often call you brave, I'm not brave, I'm just pragmatic, positive and try to keep going and keep going forward."

Discussing his health regime, Paul remarked: "The medication is very important to do what your doctor tells you. Take it regularly."

The celebrity also noted that his work on The Chase and his stand-up comedy performances have aided his recovery, reports the Mirror.

In a candid chat with The Telegraph about his health challenges, Paul acknowledged he might have pushed himself too hard by not taking sufficient rest, admitting: "I should have taken a massive break but I continued to gig. The reason I want to share my story is that I truly think performers need to think more about taking better and more holistic self-care of themselves."

Paul, undeterred by his health issues, remains active and fully booked, expressing: "I don't feel that I've completely recovered, nonetheless I have a very full diary indeed. The decision regarding Edinburgh relies on so many factors of which cardiac health is just one. Whatever happens, I will only return with a show that I'm proud of."
