Kaos cast: Who is in the Netflix dark comedy drama?

Kaos is a highly-anticipated series with a star-studded cast which is making its way to Netflix on August 29. The series, created by Charlie Covell, revolves around a handful of mortals on Earth as they bid to defy the Gods.

When Zeus, King of the Gods, feels threatened by the humans, he kickstarts a plan to destroy all of mankind. It is down to four mortals to discover their connections with each other and end Zeus' reign once and for all.

The eight-episode series was given the green light in 2018 and it was originally meant to star Hugh Grant as Zeus. However, the actor had to pull out of the series due to date availability issues.

Filming took place in Spain, despite the series being set in Greece. It has been described as is described as a “bold, darkly comic, contemporary take on Greek mythology, exploring love, life and power in the underworld".

Zeus - Jeff Goldblum

Zeus is cocky and confident as King of the Gods but when the slightest hint at his downfall presents itself, he quickly becomes paranoid.

Zeus is played by Jeff Goldblum, a 71-year-old American actor best known for playing Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park.

The actor and musician is also recognised for his role as David Levinson in Independence Day.

The father-of-two is married to Canadian dancer Emilie Livingston.

Hera - Janet McTeer

Hera is Zeus' wife and is a Queen in her own right. Although she supports her husband, she worries about his frivolous behaviour.

She is played by Janet McTeer, a 63-year-old English actress known for playing Helen Pierce in Ozark.

The star was also in Battle Creek, Sorry for Your Loss and The Governor. She is married to Joseph Coleman.

Poseidon - Cliff Curtis

Poseidon is God of the Sea and one of Zeus' closest siblings, he is not one to play by the books.

He is played by Cliff Curtis, a 56-year-old New Zealand actor and film producer.

The father-of-four is known for his roles in Once Were Warriors and Fear the Walking Dead.

Hades - David Thewlis

Hades is the God of Death and he has a complex relationship with his brother Zeus, having been left in charge of managing the Underworld.

He is played by David Thewlis, a 61-year-old English actor and filmmaker best known for playing Professor Lupin in the Harry Potter films.

The actor is married to French designer and artist Hermine Poitou and he has a daughter with his previous partner, Anna Friel.

He is also recognised for his roles in Life Is Sweet and Naked.

Orpheus - Killian Scott

Orpheus, a mortal, is a musician and is deeply in love with Riddy - but their relationship is far from perfect.

He is played by Killian Scott, a 39-year-old Irish actor known for his roles in Love/Hate and Traders.

His brother, Eoghan Murphy, is an Irish former Fine Gael politician.

Medusa - Debi Mazar

Medusa has living snakes in place of hair and she has an important role to play in the Underworld.

She is played by Debi Mazar, a 60-year-old American actress and TV personality who has starred in Goodfellas, Civil Wars and LA Law.

The mother-of-two is married to Italian cook and entrepreneur Gabriele Corcos.

Riddy - Aurora Perrineau

Riddy is a human who is paramount to the downfall of Zeus and his family, and she is in a relationship with Orpheus.

She is played by Aurora Perrineau, a 29-year-old American actress and model.

She is best known for her role as Shana Elmsford in Jem and the Holograms. Fans may also recognise her from Netflix's When They See Us.

The star is in a relationship with American actor and screenwriter, Michael Vlamis.

Caneus - Misia Butler

Caneus becomes one of Riddy's closest friends and he too has a crucial role to play in the downfall of the Gods.

He is played by Misia Butler, who is known for his role in The Bastard Son and The Devil Himself.

He has also starred in The School for Good and Evil and Kiss Me First.

Ari - Leila Farzad

Ari is another human whose father is in a position of power and has connections with the Gods.

She is played by Leila Farzad, a 42-year-old British actress known for playing Naomi Jones in the Sky Atlantic series I Hate Suzie.

The star has a daughter, born in 2014, with James Maizels. Her other credits include Better and The Decameron.

Dionysus - Nabhaan Rizwan

Dionysus is Zeus' son and the God of wine and ecstasy. He lives a carefree life but is trying to find his purpose in the world.

He is played by Nabhaan Rizwan, a 27-year-old British actor known for the crime drama Informer and the series Station Eleven.

He is the son of actress Shahnaz Rizwan.

Persephone - Rakie Ayola

Persephone is Hades' partner in the series and she is fiercely loyal to him.

She is played by Rakie Ayola, a 56-year-old Welsh actress known for her roles in The Pact, Grace and Shetland.

The mother-of-two is married to actor and writer Adam Smethurst.

Cassandra - Billie Piper

Cassandra is a mysterious character played by Billie Piper, a 41-year-old actress and former singer.

She became known for her hit Because We Want To, which was released when she was just 15 years old.

The star is also known for her role as Rose Tyler in Doctor Who. She has three children.

Lachy - Eddie Izzard

Lachy is one of the Fates, or personifications of destiny, in the series and the character is played by Eddie Izzard.

The British comedian and actor, 62, is also known as Suzy Izzard and their TV credits include Stay Close, The Lost Symbol and Hannibal.

Glaucus - Fady Elsayed

Glaucus is Ari's brother in the series and he is played by Fady Elsayed, a 30-year-old British actor known for the Sky Atlantic series Gangs of London.

His films include My Brother the Devil and Sixteen.

Stanley Townsend plays Ari's father in the series, which also features Tomi Egbowon-Ogunjobi, Gilian Cally, Shila Ommi and Amanda Douge as Andromache.
