Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins took the reins on Wednesday's edition of Good Morning Britain but just minutes into the programme viewers took aim at the host.

The ITV presenters were joined by The Chase star Paul Sinha on the show and moments before their interview with the quizmaster, the pair spoke with show guest Michael O'Brien, who was wrongfully convicted and spent 11 years in prison.

However, during both chats viewers noted Richard, 56, speaking over the GMB guests.

@rng8899 tweeted: "#GMB Richard Madeley not letting Paul Sinha finish his answers."

@Lucy240679 agreed: "Loves telling peoples’ stories for them, but inevitably gets it wrong."

@mntrg commented: "@richardm56 would you please let @CharlotteHawkns atleast get one bloody word in without talking over her every time she starts to speak. Thank you #GMB @GMB."

@MaxPollard92 quizzed: "Surely Richard Madeley is playing up to the Alan Partridge thing at this point? No one is this similar to Alan Partridge by accident #GMB."

@TNT commented: "Talking over everyone? #GMB."

While @KaniaMcKalliah said: "Will @susannareid100 be back on Monday guys? With Richard?"

Speaking about his experience after prison time, Michael said, "They want to deduct bed and board off you!"

@michellejmorgan remarked: "Yes, we heard. Four times in five minutes in fact. Once when Charlotte read the autocue, then Richard immediately repeated what she’d just said, then Richard said it again after the break, then the chap who had to pay said it too."

Richard has previously addressed the comparisons between his presenting style and that of Alan Partridge, admitting "It doesn't bother me at all".

"I couldn’t care less about the Alan Partridge comparisons," he told The Guardian. 2Taking yourself seriously is daft. I do the best I can, so please say what you like about me. Be nice, nasty or take the piss. It doesn’t bother me at all."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
