Netflix's Love is Blind UK reunion sees Catherine issue apology over 'distasteful' remarks

The reunion special of Love is Blind UK premiered on Netflix this week, featuring a heated exchange between Catherine and Demi over Ollie.

During the main show, which has been confirmed for a second season, Ollie and Demi developed a strong connection in the pods, thanks to their mutual love for sports and a similar sense of humour. The intensity increased when Demi openly shared her experience with endometriosis.

Despite exploring his options with Catherine, Ollie, a software salesman, eventually proposed to Demi, a safeguarding and attendance manager.

"The purpose of this experiment is you're going and dating various people, there's no shying away from that. I wanted to keep it very open and honest with both of them, but ultimately my head and my heart led me to Demi," Ollie clarified at the reunion.

Later, the 32-year-old expressed his frustration over social media speculation suggesting he would naturally be more attracted to Catherine, reports the Mirror.

"This has been bothering me that I've been seeing online, this narrative of, 'Oh, he's not gonna be attracted to Demi, he'd choose his other option'.

"It's annoying they're projecting their ideal of the default setting of [what] beauty is, and assuming what I go for," he vented.

Catherine was quick to intervene, accusing Ollie of being "disrespectful" by "judging" her on the show.

Demi then weighed in, expressing her displeasure at Catherine's suggestion that a relationship between her and Ollie couldn't work due to Demi's looks.

"My voice has been muted for so long and I was trying to keep it muted," she stated, before confessing that she found Catherine's comments to be distasteful.

In response to any insinuation of ill-intent, Catherine promptly apologised for conveying her opinions in a "bad way".
