Love Is Blind: Sabrina discusses shock fall out with Steven

Love Is Blind UK's golden couple Steven and Sabrina appeared to have a storybook romance, gliding through their wedding day flawlessly with an undeniable bond. However, after the Netflix series ended, trouble brewed for the couple, leading them to eventually part ways.

Several months down the line, both Sabrina and Steven have offered contrasting perspectives on their split, having spoken exclusively to The Mirror and other Reach media outlets about the rollercoaster of emotions they've faced.

Although Steven was under the impression that things remained cordial between them until the show's reunion, it's apparent that Sabrina has harboured pain from their separation. Sabrina recently gave an emotive update in the exclusive interview, detailing how the break-up has impacted her mental health.

Starting off, she expressed: "For me, I married Steven because I genuinely believed he was my person, and I will always love that person that he was throughout filming. But unfortunately, that just didn't translate into the real world and when the cameras had stopped rolling."

She revealed: "There were a lot of promises made before we got married that, once we were married, he wasn't able to deliver on."

She added: "Even through that all, I really, really tried to make it work. I travelled back and forth to London and I prioritised us and I just didn't get the same respect or commitment in return."

Reflecting on her marriage, Sabrina detailed one pivotal moment, recalling: "So when it was his turn to show up at Christmas, he didn't. And at that point, I realised I had to choose myself, because a marriage has to be a partnership and it has to work both ways."

Discussing the toll the relationship took on her well-being, Sabrina shared: "It was incredibly difficult. It had a really bad effect on me emotionally, mentally and physically."

Opening up about her diagnosis, she confided: "I was diagnosed with depression, I had a lot of anticipatory grief for the life we were meant to have together."

Describing the emotional challenge of abandoned dreams, she continued: "That was really hard to come to terms with, because for me it was legit, it was real and I had this whole life planned out with this person."

Highlighting the pain of losing a future before it unfolds, Sabrina added: "So that was really difficult to let go of. You're almost mourning something that hasn't even happened yet."

Explaining the isolation following her marriage's collapse, she admitted: "I isolated myself from my friends for a long time out of embarrassment. I've asked them all to come to the wedding and then 86 days later I'm like, 'Yeah, it didn't work out.'"

Sabrina spoke of her journey towards healing, explaining: "So I just took a lot of time to work on myself. Did a lot of therapy, still doing therapy. And did some solo travelling and gradually started to get back to myself."

On a positive note, Sabrina acknowledged how Love Is Blind fostered enduring friendships and gave her the freedom to quit her job and pursue a new career.

Meanwhile, addressing the split, Steven said: "Obviously, we've separated. To summarise it, I suppose... I don't want to summarise it and not give it the respect it deserves.

"But we massively underestimated the effect the distance was going to have and us both having to restart work again. We both restarted our businesses and that put a lot of pressure on us.

"We were the ideal couple in an ideal world, but we weren't really exposed to life pressures and everything else that comes with real life.

"And that just meant we weren't compatible in the real world. That's all it was, really, and unfortunately, it's resulted in our separation."

When questioned if they had managed to remain friends, Steven mused: "Up until the reunion, I thought so, but it would seem that it's probably not the case.

"Which I kind of understand, because it must still be really painful. Obviously, we all deal with pain differently, so I'd probably say not - no."

The full season of Love Is Blind UK is now available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
