Game of Thrones: Official Series Trailer as epic saga closes
Amazon Prime Video's upcoming series The Assassin has welcomed new cast members, Baby Reindeer's Shalom Brune-Franklin and Game of Thrones star Richard Dormer. The series is currently being filmed in Greece.
The show is a creation of screenwriters Harry and Jack Williams, known for their black-comedy crime thriller Boat Story, which drew comparisons to the Coen brothers' work. The Assassin is a joint venture between Two Brothers Pictures, ZDF, All3Media International, and Stan.
The six-part series features Keeley Hawes, known for her role in Bodyguard, as Julie, a retired hitwoman living a peaceful life on a secluded Mediterranean island.
However, her tranquillity is shattered when her estranged son (played by The Good Doctor's Freddie Highmore) arrives from England.
"Armed with questions around new information on his paternity, Edward battles to find the right time to speak to his frustratingly distant mother.
But, when the moment finally presents itself, things take a deadly turn as Julie's dangerous past catches up with her and they are forced to flee the island and go on the run together," reveals the synopsis.
"Edward's quest for truth clashes with Julie's secrecy whilst they are forced to work together in a fight for survival, testing their dysfunctional relationship to its limits.
"Amid uncovering a dark conspiracy they believe to be their only threat, a greater danger emerges that will destroy their relationship entirely," reports the Mirror.

"In a race against time, Julie fights to save Edward and salvage their relationship as past and present collide in a showdown across the globe."
The Assassin also stars prominent names such as Gina Gershon of Riverdale fame, Jack Davenport from Pirates of the Caribbean, Lost actor Alan Dale, Gerald Kyd known for The Split, Devon Terrell from Cursed and David Dencik who featured in The Ipcress File.
