GMB: Marverine Cole reads out breaking news story

Good Morning Britain viewers were taken aback after Kate Garraway was replaced by Trisha Goddard in another presenter reshuffle on Tuesday. The Hackney-born star, 66, joined Richard Madeley at the helm of the show this Tuesday, August 13, 2024, as they discussed the day's top stories.

However, many viewers were thrilled by the presenter switch-up and took to X to share their thoughts - with some calling for Trisha to become a permanent presenter.

"I am loving Trisha on #GMB Please can she stay forever," one fan pleaded while another echoed: "It’s refreshing to have Trisha on @GMB. Can’t we have her as a regular co-presenter for @susannareid100? The current male lineup isn’t great, bring in Trisha full time! #gmb." sic)

A third added: "Love Trisha, hope she’s back on as a regular #GMB."

"Love Richard and Trisha on GMB a very professional pairing," another went on while someone else praised: "I love Trisha very much, she is a very talented journalist."

"Can I just say having Trisha on is fantastic. She knows what she's talking about. Get rid of Kate Garraway," one fan stated.

This followed an incident on Monday where Kate had to deal with a personal crisis while on air, with co-host Richard pointing out her preoccupation with her phone during a commercial break.

Although she didn't reveal any specifics about the situation, Kate has previously had to step back from her GMB duties after her father Gordon suffered a suspected stroke and heart attack. However, Trisha's guest appearance was anticipated this time around.

On Thursday, August 8, during her own interview on Good Morning Britain with Kate and co-host Ed Balls, it was announced that the former talk show host would be guest presenting the show this Tuesday and Wednesday (August 14, 2024), reports the Mirror.

"I'm not normally nervous, I have to say," she notably admitted, confessing that being interviewed was more nerve-wracking than hosting. "That bit I'm not nervous about, and I said before this bit I've been shaking like a chihuahua."

The conversation also led her to openly discuss her terminal breast cancer. Trisha's stint on Good Morning Britain comes after Ed Balls announced he'd be taking a break from the show until September, following a wave of Ofcom complaints.

Ed took to Instagram this Monday, sharing a photo of himself holding a pavlova and a selfie with Kate.

He captioned the post: "What better way to celebrate the start of summer holidays than with a pavlova - our family favourite", before adding that he "loved working with Kate last week during such national turbulent times."

He went on to say: "I'm back with Susanna (Reid) at the beginning of September when schools and Parliament return - see you soon."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
