Fire Country: Promo for season finale
Fire Country season three will be visited by Supernatural favourite and upcoming The Boys star Jared Padalecki in an exciting recurring role.
The CBS drama has become a massive hit for the network, starring SEAL Team’s Max Thieriot as Bode Leone, an inmate firefighter tackling emergencies and seeking redemption in Northern California.
Season three will be coming to screens this October and is filling out the roster with more huge names to join series regulars Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr and Billy Burke.
Deadline reports that Jared has signed on for a three-episode arc as a new Southern California firefighter who shakes things up amongst the team.
He’s best known for portraying Sam Winchester alongside Jensen Ackles for 15 years and has just wrapped up a four-season run of Walker.
Jared will be portraying Camden, a “SoCal firefighter and maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s raw talent”, per an official description.
While he has only signed on to recur in three episodes, Deadline is already reporting he could be a shoo-in to lead his own spin-off.
It would join the already ordered offshoot Sheriff County set to feature Deadpool star Morena Baccarin in the lead role which will premiere in the 2025-26 season.
Now, Jared’s addition to the franchise seems to gel with CBS CEO George Cheeks’ promise that the network will be “doubling down” on a drama that “completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe.”
Back in June, he said “It became very clear that not only was [Fire Country] special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch.
“And so I’m like, ‘You guys, congratulations, you got your [full-season order]. Now let’s start talking about ideas for new extensions.’ They’ve already come up with some great ones.”
Despite Jared being the obvious choice to lead his own spin-off, the Supernatural fave cautioned that he may not be quite ready to carry another show just yet.
“I don’t mind long TV, but I’ve heard it said many times, and I agree, that hour-long episodic television is the hardest job in the industry,” he told TVLine recently.
“It’s not for the weak-spirited. Like, you really have to sacrifice a lot, and I’ve sacrificed everything I have to sacrifice for many, many years, and I think I’m at a point in my life where I want to spend more time with my wife and kids.
“If a job on a TV show comes up, like I’ve talked to [Eric Kripke] about The Boys stuff, like, ‘Yeah, I’ll come play with you for a month.
“‘Yeah, I’ll come play with you for two months, for six weeks, or whatever,’ or, ‘Yeah, I’ll come pop in a week out of every month for the next three months.'”
Could his guest star appearances be a warm-up for another leading role, or will CBS have to look for another TV A-lister to head up Fire Country’s second spin-off?
