Carol Kirkwood 'sad' about not watching matches at Wimbledon

Carol Kirkwood admitted "it's really sad" as she made an admission about her career on Friday's BBC Breakfast. The meteorologist was chatting to Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt about Andy Murray retiring from tennis when she revealed the revelation.

Before turning to Carol for the weather report Charlie and Naga chatted between themselves about Andy playing his last-ever game at Wimbledon.

Naga began: "In typical Andy Murray fashion you know that drive he's got... he posted this on social media, he said, 'Never even like tennis anyway'. I think that's very fun."

Charlie weighed in: "It's absolutely him, isn't it? Because the emotions he's shown over the years and what he's given to the sport, it's not about tennis fans, is it? I think if you like sports, and in fact you just like people, his emotion are so raw on the tennis court.

"And over the years I was just looking through one of the other quotes and mutually after this loss and retirement, he said, 'I gave it a good go'.

"We will miss him a lot," Charlie added before turning to Carol: "I bet Carol has been at Wimbledon a few times with the Murray magic going on over the years, haven't you Carol?"

"I have," Carol admitted before adding: "But I have never seen Andy play, can you believe, or any other match for that matter, Charlie,"

Naga chipped in: "So you get sent in in the morning and do Breakfast and then you're kicked out?"

"No and then I carry on and do the weather on sport," the meteorologist reassured as she admitted: "But because I am always working, there is no time to go and have a look at the tennis, which is really sad, but it's nice to soak up the atmosphere."

Ahead of her appearance on Friday's BBC Breakfast, Carol wished her Twitter followers a good morning before sharing an insight into the weekend's weather forecast.

One fan were quick to reply: " Good Morning Carol :) Wishing you a good day and a fantastic weekend… Sam :) Xx." (sic)

Another wrote: "Good morning Carol have a wonderful day."

While a third added: "And a very good morning to you Carol hope you’re well have a lovely and safe day."

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
