Stephen Mulhern, famous for hosting ITV's popular shows like Dancing On Ice and Deal or No Deal, has reportedly been hit by a shocking decision to put his own Saturday night show, In For A Penny, on hold.

The spin-off to Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, which first aired in 2019 as a standalone show, has allegedly been shelved after six series.

Despite this alleged setback, viewers have been urged not to lose heart, as reports suggest the show could potentially make a comeback. "Whilst Stephen is busy filming other projects over the summer, In For A Penny continues to be a much loved format for ITV," a source confided to TV Zone.

"So don't put your pennies away just yet as the team could be popping up in your local town, to challenge even more members of the public to take part in their unique and madcap games in the future!"

The show excited viewers with Stephen visiting various places across the UK, challenging locals to engaging and whimsical games such as Pump It Up, a game that demanded motorists fill up their vehicle at a petrol station to the precise cost they listed using only two clicks.

The popular game show, which sees shoppers play a game of higher or lower at supermarket tills, saw members of the public compete to win £1,000. The most recent series of the show concluded with a bang as presenter Stephen Mulhern jetted off to Walt Disney World in Florida.

"When they told me that we were going to film a one-off special of In For A Penny here at Walt Disney World Resort, I thought to myself, 'This is going to be unbelievable' and unbelievable it was!" Stephen revealed, reports the Mirror.

The presenter added: "It's been an amazing experience taking the show outside of the UK for the first time ever and having both US and UK contestants take part in the gameplay. This will be a very special episode that myself, the contestants, and everyone watching back home in the UK will never forget!"

Stephen previously admitted to Mirror Online that Ant and Dec gave him their seal of approval for the hilarious gameshow segment. He shared: "It is a dream and Ant and Dec, it's there idea, they solely came up with it and we did it on Saturday Night Takeaway."
