Charles Amos argues in favour of first cousin marriage
GB News viewers were left outraged as writer Charles Amos defended incestuous relationships live on air, saying "'individuals should be free to marry and have children with whoever they want."
Andrew Pierce and Ellie Costello were back on presenting duty on Thursday (December 19) afternoon and welcomed the guest onto the programme to discuss the news that MP Richard Holden's decision to call for first-cousin marriage to be banned in the UK.
Holden has said the children of first cousins were at greater risk of birth defects and the practice should be prohibited to protect public health.
He introducted his proposals using the 10-minute rule process, which allows a backbench MP to make the case for a new bill in a speech of up to 10 minutes in the Commons.
Charles insisted: "I don't think it is wrong on every level. Individuals should be free to persue their own good in their own way and that includes the freedom to marry and have children with whoever they want."

When Ellie asked: "Would you include siblings in that?", he responded: "I would include siblings in that. If you look like at the numebr of birth defects amongst indivudals that are father and daughter or brother and sister it's about 57 per cent.
"Although you may go 'that's absolutely terrible', I moan those individuals wouldn't exisit if it wasn't for the marriages that created them. Sure the birth defects are but but it it's better those birth defects exists than not exsisting at all."
During the interview, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on the interview. One fan said: "Are you serious with this?" Another added: "Extraordinary that someone is actually defending the right of fathers to marry their daughters on national television."

A third person said: "Is this guy for real?!" Someone else said: "This was the most disturbing interview I’ve seen and made me feel sick." A fifth wrote: "Disgusting, vile, disgraceful, disturbing."
At the end of the interview, Charles stated:"Let me make one thing clear, I believe in an age of content." Andrew probed: "Where? What age?" Charlie contined: "I'm not getting into that. I'd write about that in an academic journal article."
Ellie wrapped up the chat saying: "Very interesting there, Charles. Thank you for sharing your point of view with us." Andrew added: "Controversial point of view and we welcome controversial points of view on GB News." She said: We do, just to be clear the chance of having a child with a serious disability is double with a cousin marriage."
