An insider from GB News has shared the "real reasons" that the news channel has had a presenter shake up. In a bombshell announcement yesterday (December 18) it was revealed that hosts Mark Dolan and Isabel Webster would be "relieved" of their positions.
Former Tory MP, Jacob Rees-Mogg, was also impacted by the changes. The news channel also announced that he would now only be hosting his show two days a week rather than four.
He had been hosting his State of the Nation programme four nights a week - on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. But now he will only do Mondays and Tuesdays.
According to MailOnline, an insider said: "Isabel was too woke and not on message." Meanwhile, they commented on Dolan's axe, adding: "Mark's viewing figures were not good."
However, the same source that his Saturday night show was up against BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
A second source reportedly said that the changes are "definitely down to money". Pre-tax losses at GB News reached £42.4m in 2023 - up from £30.7m in 2022.
Elsewhere on the channel, Ben Leo will launch Ben Leo Tonight on Saturday and Sunday nights from January. He will also continue to co-host Britain's Newsroom on a Friday.
Free Speech Nation will be hosted by comedian Josh Howie on Sundays between 7-9pm. Andrew Doyle and Miriam Cates will also be given more permanent roles.
GB News's Head of Programming and Talent, Ben Briscoe, said: "2024 has been a truly fantastic year for us.

In other news, presenter Patrick Christys has confirmed that he will not be hosting his evening show on GB News tonight. The host confirmed that Ben Leo will replace him.
