Netflix has discreetly added the BBC’s critically acclaimed drama Capital to its streaming lineup, and it’s already a viewer favourite.

The 2015 mini-series, starring Toby Jones, has surged into the top 10 most-watched shows within just a few days of its release.

Set in London, Capital tells the gripping tale of residents on Pepys Road, a street shaken by rapid gentrification. The mystery begins when every household receives an anonymous postcard with the unsettling message: "WE WANT WHAT YOU HAVE."

The ensemble cast includes Roger Yount (played by Toby Jones), a banker new to the area, and Petunia Howe (portrayed by Gemma Jones), an elderly widow who’s lived on the street for decades.

As the plot develops, the residents realise they are under surveillance, sparking a tense investigation into who’s behind it.

The series features an impressive lineup of actors, including Rachel Stirling, Adeel Akhtar, Danny Ashok, Lesley Sharp, and Mona Goodwin. It went on to win the Emmy for Best TV Movie/Mini-Series in 2016.

Reflecting on his role, Toby said: "Roger isn’t a villainous banker, but he’s become comfortable with his privileged lifestyle.

"He spends money on things like home upgrades without thinking, but he’s not in control of his life or his career."

He added: "What drew me to the role was that, on the surface, Roger seems successful and educated, but beneath that, something is shifting.

"He’s feeling an increasing dissatisfaction with his life, and the events of the story push that to the forefront. He’s not someone who reflects much on his emotions, and neither does his wife."

In other Netflix news, another hit British series is also making a comeback, albeit in film form. This week fans have been given a sneak peek of the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.

Cillian Murphy, who first made his name in the role as gangster Tommy Shelby, was spotted back in character in a photo shared on Netflix’s official X account.

The actor, who starred in the BBC hit for its duration - 2013 to 2022, is set to reprise his iconic role in the film, alongside new cast members Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson, and Tim Roth. The production is tightly secured, with only authorised personnel allowed on set.

The snap showed the Oppenheimer star dressed as Tommy, standing with show creator Steven Knight. The caption read: "By order of the Peaky Blinders... Tommy Shelby is back."

Knight returns as the writer, with Tom Harper directing. While plot details are still under wraps, excitement is building, especially after the recent announcement that Barry Keoghan has joined the cast, though his character remains a mystery.

Peaky Blinders, which aired for six seasons on the BBC, chronicles the notorious activities of a renowned Birmingham crime gang in the immediate aftermath of the First World War.
