Strictly: Wynne Evans sings during his performance
Wynne Evans made an unforgettable impression with an unexpected twist in his performance during the latest episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
The BBC One show, for the first time ever themed around Icons Week, saw the 10 remaining celebrity contestants dazzle the audience to tracks from legendary artists.
In a special treat, professional dancers are preparing to give viewers a Beyonce-inspired show-stopper with Johannes Radebe embodying Sasha Fierce in a medley during Sunday's results programme.
Opera singer Wynne and his dance partner Katya Jones paid homage to Shirley Bassey with a Rumba set to This is My Life, culminating in a stunningly dramatic finale that had Wynne unleashing his operatic talents unexpectedly.
The performance wowed host Tess Daly who exclaimed: "That blew the hair off the back of my arms, that was something, we know Wynne can sing!" reports the Mirror.
Judge Anton Du Beke couldn't contain his excitement after the routine, as he praised: "The best ending to a number I've ever seen in my entire life, unbelievable!"
Wynne, receiving mixed reviews from the panel, light-heartedly shot back with a request saying: "Can we just pretend it's a song contestant instead, is that okay?" and later discovered he had indeed scored a remarkable 30 points.
Fans on Twitter were at odds, with some arguing that it's about dancing, not singing. One viewer remarked: "It's not the X Factor? #Strictly", while another posted: "didn't realise I was watching x factor #strictly", and yet another commented: "It's not a singing contest #strictly" with someone else highlighting: "Someone wants to tell Wynn he doesn't get points for singing!"
Another fan praised the performance: "Really loved Wynne's routine and the powerful and inspiring message it gave, not to mention the amazing vocal finish at the end! He should be really proud! #Strictly" and someone else exclaimed: "Wynne was amazing! #Strictly!"
In related news, pro dancer Lauren Oakley has taken to the dance floor with JLS star JB Gill, 37, after Amy Dowden became unwell during last weekend's filming.
Amy, aged 34, is reportedly recovering well following her hospitalisation due to a health scare that caused her to bow out of last Sunday's results show and take a break from this weeks contest, although she was in the audience to cheer them on.
Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
