Virgin River season 6 official trailer
Virgin River star Kandyse McClure has hinted at potential wedding turmoil for Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) in the eagerly awaited sixth season.
The hit Netflix series, adored for its small-town charm, is set to resume its narrative this December after an eventful fifth season and a pair of stunning Christmas specials.
Fans can expect a festive treat as new episodes land on December 19, showcasing the lead-up to the beloved duo's enchanting nuptials.
"It's beautiful," said McClure, who plays Kaia Bryant, during an exclusive interview with Screen Time about the upcoming wedding.
Yet, in true Virgin River fashion, it seems the path to marital bliss may not be smooth, with McClure hinting that unforeseen complications could arise on the couple's special day.
McClure cautioned: "I guess I'll say this... the plan is beautiful. It's a beautiful idea. But... we'll see."
Despite probing for more details on potential disruptions, McClure remained tight-lipped.
"It may or may not happen," she cryptically concluded.
The festivities will include Mel's hen party, which was briefly showcased in the latest season six teaser.
Confirming her character Kaia's involvement, McClure shared that viewers will witness a wild celebration after her character built friendships with characters like Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen) and Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale).
"You see us on stage, we're singing together. Let's just say it was a wild day and night," McClure divulged with a hint of excitement.
The star hinted at the immersive nature of the show's setting, revealing: "You want to get into it as much as possible because it makes it easier. We actually filmed at this incredible bar that I had been to before a few times, because I do live in Vancouver.
"I was like, 'I've had a few nights in this bar that I can probably call on right now'."
Teasing the upcoming twists, she also promised viewers will encounter an array of surprises, stating: "Absolutely. There's a couple," and then adding with increasing intrigue, "Now that I'm thinking about it there are a few, in fact.
"I think you're going to see a different side of people we think we really know. And a kind of deepening of that understanding of who those people really are."
McClure praised the intense performances audiences can anticipate: "There's a couple ones that took my breath away when I was listening in. There's some really powerful performances coming up this season."
The sixth season is set to delve into the evolving relationship between Kaia and Preacher (Colin Lawrence), especially after a dramatic revelation of an "I love you" which wasn't returned.
McClure, while maintaining an air of mystery, hinted that fans are in for emotional surprises, yet stopped short of disclosing Kaia's true feelings, leaving the audience in keen anticipation for the next season's revelations.
Virgin River season 6 premieres Thursday, December 19 on Netflix.
