Strictly: Dianne explains how tough the show is for Chris

Dianne Buswell heaped praise on her celebrity partner Chris McCausland after their latest performance on Strictly Come Dancing.

Saturday night's instalment (November 2) of the BBC competition saw comedian Chris, 47, and Dianne, 35, pay tribute to rock band Kiss in the show's first ever Icons Week.

Chris perfectly embodied Gene Simmons wearing a studded, mirrored black outfit, with dark paint around one eye as the pair delivered an impressive Tango to Rock and Roll All Nite.

After hearing from the judges, Chris and Dianne headed upstairs to speak to Claudia Winkleman about their performance. The Liverpudlian opened up about the struggles he's faced preparing for Icons Week as he confessed to not knowing what a Tango was.

He said: "It surprised me on Monday because we did the Waltz and it was lovely. I thought I was in for an easy week and I didn't know what a Tango was until Monday.

Chris confessed that the Tango was much faster than he originally thought, adding: "It's been knackering."

Dianne added: "The thing for Chris is, every week he comes here and I say, 'They're doing a Tango' and he goes, 'Oh, that's great'. And then when it comes to it he goes, 'What is the Tango then?'

"Every week is a new learing curve. He hasn't got any reference to look at any dance, at all, ever."

Turning to her partner, Dianne gushed: "Honestly, I take my hat off to you, you're so incredible."

Chris and Dianne were awarded 29 points out of 40, which landed them at the bottom end of the leaderboard.

Dianne was praised for her comments on social media as one wrote: "Well said Dianne, he has no frame of reference for any of the amazing dances he’s doing!! And he’s doing amazing, and Dianne is a bloody good teacher!!"

Another agreed: "I feel like a lot of people on here forget about this when talking about chris!! He has no idea what any of the dances look like and has to start from scratch every week! And people need to remember that and dianne has every right to say that!!!"

A third remarked: "I am so happy this point has finally been made. none of us will ever understand the sheer volume of hard work that goes into every step, every position, every movement. dianne is an absolute genius. this is what strictly is about. they are the best there has ever been #strictly."

Someone else declared: "Dianne is SO right. Chris has got absolutely no reference to any dance whatsoever. He is pretty incredible. Loved that tango!"
