Filming for the final ever episode of Gavin and Stacey has begun on Barry Island in South Wales. The show's co-creators, James Corden and Ruth Jones, have been spotted in character as Smithy and Nessa in the episode that will air on Christmas Day.
James, 46, and Ruth, 57, announced in May that they had written the finale. The former Late Late Show host wrote on Instagram: "It's official! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey".
"See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James."
We last saw the beloved sitcom on Christmas Day in 2019. The episode, which was the first in nine years, ended on a cliffhanger when Nessa proposed to Smithy.
The upcoming Christmas special is expected to see the return of most of the original cast including Matthew Horne (Gavin), Joanna Page (Stacey), Alison Steadman (Pam), Larry Lamb (Mick) and Rob Brydon (Bryn).
