GB News star rages over Keir Starmer's dynamic pricing vow after Oasis ticket backlash

Keir Starmer's ticket pricing focus queried by GB News guest

Keir Starmer has received backlash after vowing to make a change to ticket prices as Oasis tickets hiked up in cost over the weekend. Fans of the Gallagher brothers logged complaints after standard tickets more than doubled in price, from £148 to £355, for the reunion tour.

A reported 14 million fans attempted to buy tickets after brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher announced that they were setting aside their differences and reuniting for the 2025 tour. But as the Prime Minister tried to tackle dynamic pricing, a guest on GB News bashed him as they said "there's bigger things at hand" in the country.

Appearing on the news channel, alongside host Eamonn Holmes, guests Alex Armstrong and Nichi Hodgson discussed the latest headlines. Eamonn made a reference to "dynamic pricing" - where ticket prices rise when demand is high - to which Alex replied: "It's nonsense isn't it, it's nonsense. And I'll tell you why.

"Because anyone, and I'm sure there's thousands who tried to get these tickets, you sit in a queue so you'll see this is the cost. Let's say £100 for your tickets, yeah?

"By the time you've waited two or three hours to get to the end of this queue that doesn't exist, it's virtual, your ticket could end up being as much as £450. That is incredible."

The GB News guest added: "The big part of this story is that the PM has obviously, you know, got in to this." He continued: "I think there's bigger things at hand in the country than Keir Starmer worrying about dynamic pricing.

"I would like to see this sorted out, of course." Nichi added: "He might have another riot on his hands if he doesn't sort it out!"

It comes as Mr Starmer told Radio 5 Live: “This is really important because this isn’t just an Oasis problem. This is a problem for tickets for all sorts of events, where people go online straight away, as soon as they can, and within seconds sometimes, sometimes minutes, all the tickets are gone, and the prices start going through the roof, which means many people can’t afford it.

“You have to stop that, We’re consulting on that. I do think there are a number of things that we can do and we should do, because otherwise you get to the situation where families simply can’t go, or are absolutely spending a fortune on tickets.

“So we’ll grip this and make sure that tickets are available at a price that people can actually afford.”

Asked if that could mean changing the law, Sir Keir replied: “We’re consulting, and it may well mean adjustments.” He added: “And every parent will know, in relation to children, the pressure to get tickets for events. I certainly do.”
