The Chase: Stuart gets caught by the chaser

The latest episode of ITV's The Chase had viewers doing a double-take as they spotted a contestant who bore an uncanny resemblance to a Coronation Street icon.

As host Bradley Walsh welcomed Stuart to start the cash builder, fans were quick to take to Twitter, pointing out that the 43 year old was a dead ringer for Sean Wilson, famous for his role as Martin Platt in the beloved soap.

Social media was abuzz with comments like: "Wasn't he married to Gail in Corrie?", another added:"Martin Platt in seat 1 #TheChase"

While one viewer clearly saw the similarity, tweeting: "Martin Platt from Corrie [sic]".The comparisons didn't stop there, with some fans suggesting Stuart also shared a likeness with actor Martin Freeman.

Despite the distraction, Stuart's run on the show was short-lived as he was caught by the Chaser, with teammates Lottie and Steve also bowing out, reports the Mirror.

Only Victoria progressed to the final chase, managing to accumulate £1,000.

With a two-minute timer and a one-step advantage, she set a target of 14 for Chaser Paul Sinha to beat.

Bradley praised her effort, saying: "That's brilliant. Brilliant, well played I think you knew another three or four of those, really good single player."

Paul was clearly impressed with the contestant's performance, immediately clapping in praise.

He commented: "Brilliant Victoria, you played the perfect game!

"You kept calm, you listened to the questions and you got the ones you knew and now you've hit a total that I've lost to a few times over the years."

Despite Victoria's commendable efforts resulting in an impressive score, she was unfortunately caught by the seasoned chaser with 29 seconds to spare.

Although she was walking away empty handed, Bradley continued to praise the target she set for Paul alone at the table.

The Chase is avalable to watch on ITVX.
