The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 trailer

The new season of the epic Lord of the Rings series Rings of Power is finally nearly here. The Prime Video series, set millennia before the events of the much-loved Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, delves into the creation of the Rings of Power, an alliance between Elves and Men, and the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron.

The inaugural season came with a hefty price tag of around $700 million (approximately £556 million), which included rights from the J.R.R. Tolkien estate.

From its premiere in September 2022 to December of the same year, the eight-episode season attracted over 100 million viewers, setting a new record as the most-watched show ever on Prime Video at that time.

Given the massive fanbase for both Lord of the Rings and Rings of Power, it's hardly surprising that fans are eagerly awaiting the second series of this hit show. The first season concluded with several storylines left to explore, including the shocking finale reveal that Sauron had been hiding in plain sight all along, disguised as a human.

Here is when every episode of Rings of Power season two will be released and how you can catch it on Prime Video.

Picking up from the dramatic conclusion of the previous season, the upcoming episodes of "Rings of Power" promise to delve deeper into Sauron's ascent as he, portrayed by Charlie Vickers, spreads chaos across Middle-earth.

The show's promotional material, including trailers and posters, has been spotlighting the fair-haired villain, capturing him with a subtle smirk as he gazes ominously at the audience.

Returning to our screens are beloved characters such as Galadriel, Elrond, Prince Durin IV, Arondir, and Celebrimbor, alongside the highly anticipated forging of additional Rings.

The official synopsis states: "In Season Two of The Rings of Power, Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.

"Building on Season One's epic scope and ambition, the new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity."

"Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots... as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all... each other."
