Official trailer for Y2K

Fresh off of the success of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Rachel Zegler is back for a new comedy film called Y2K. A first-look trailer was released on Tuesday and it looks like fans are in for a rib-tickling good time as she takes on a killer Tamagothchi.

The clip begins with a boy having a crush on a girl who is interested in someone else, but things soon hit the fan as the clock strikes midnight and the Y2K bug activates.

In this out-of-this-world film, all technology becomes self-aware and tries to kill human beings. In the trailer, viewers are shown an RC car with Lego arms use a hairspray flamethrower on one unlucky individual while a Tamagotchi drills a girl to death.

The main baddie in this movie appears to be a Playstation mascot of Polygon Man who taunts the leads of the film. Apart from Rachel, the film also stars IT actor Jaeden Martell and Deadpool star Julian Dennison as three teenagers celebrating on New Year's Eve 1999.

The three friends must come together in a bid to stop the technology from eradicating mankind and put an end to the madness.

It's been directed by actor and comedian Kyle Mooney, who was a cast member on NBC's Saturday Night Live. He's also putting his acting chops to good use as he's starring in the film as character Garrett.

Aside from the three principal characters and Kyle, it also stars Daniel Zolghadri, Lachlan Watson, Eduardo Franco and Fred Durst.

Y2K had it's world premiere at South by Southwest back in March and is scheduled to be released in cinemas in December in the US.

Jaeden Martell

Another film that Rachel is starring in released it's trailer recently, with the actress taking on the iconic role of Snow White in the live-action Disney remake.

As well as Rachel, the upcoming movie also stars Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Andrew Burnap as Jonathan and Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman.

Rachel fans are in for a treat, as Snow White is releasing just three months after Y2K's release in December.

Y2K releases in US cinemas on December 8. A UK release date is yet to be revealed.
