Bargain Hunt: Anita Manning looks at a Golden Ticket
Anita Manning is recognisable as a Scottish antiques expert and host on the BBC daytime series Bargain Hunt, as well as shows such as Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip. Believed to be Scotland's first female auctioneer, she has plenty of experience under her belt.
Her love of antiques came from her father, who would take her to auctions in Glasgow when she was a child. Her career began in the 1970s after she was offered a job as a buyer, having purchased a bed from an Irish dealer.
However, the expert has had a number of different jobs in her lifetime, studying dance and PE at Aberdeen and Edinburgh. She also worked as a teacher before settling down to start a family with her husband.
As a young mother, she focused her attention on her love of antiques, buying and selling furniture from all over the country. In 1989 she set up an auction house called Great Western Auctions, which she runs with her daughter Lala.

Anita was born on December 1, 1947, making her 76 years old. She will celebrate her 77th birthday at the end of this year.
Anita was born in Glasgow, a place which remains close to her heart as it is where she decided to set up her own business.
Anita said of her business: "For as long as I can remember I have been passionate about Art, Antiques and Auctions.
"The beauty in craftsmanship and design, coupled with the social history of the objects, that I am privileged to handle on a daily basis, has been a continual source of joy.

Anita specialises in paintings, especially by 20th century Scottish artists, as well as glass and studio pottery.
She said her love of collectables comes from memories of all the mahogany furniture she admired at her granny’s house growing up.
