Gabby Logan issued a brutal verdict on the Paris Olympics closing ceremony, as she branded it a "challenging" watch.

The BBC star has been presenting the iconic sporting event for the last two weeks, and has been praised for her thorough and entertaining commentary.

Gabby took to social media to praise her BBC colleagues Hazel Irvine and Andrew Cotter, who have been commentating the closing event, but agreed with viewers as she took a swipe at the ceremony.

She penned: "Cotter and Irvine making a ‘challenging’ watch much more entertaining than it might otherwise be…"

Her fans rushed to agree with her comments, as one said: "They’ve been great, as per. Also, very diplomatic way of saying this has been ‘awful’, Gabby!"

Another added: "Oh my God, I am HOWLING right now. They are absolutely magnificent."

A third chipped in: "I'm glad Andrew and Hazel get to be dry humour. They are both brilliant broadcasters but they get this time to voice what we are thinking and add their own bit to it to make us laugh and enjoy something that is a bit meh."

A fourth wrote: "Agreed Gabby; somewhat disappointing from the artistic director … bring back Danny Boyle!"

Gabby wasn't the only one praising Hazel and Andrew for their hard work during the closing ceremony, as fans rushed to social media to beg for the pair to be rewarded for their commentary.

The pair are known for their hilarious interactions together, and the ceremony was no exception as one fan said: "Is it possible for a gold medal to be awarded to Andrew Cotter and Hazel Irvine for their wonderful commentary."

Another added: "Hazel Irvine and Andrew Cotter commenting on the Closing Ceremony is giving me Terry Wogan/Graham Norton Eurovision vibes, love it. Get these two a podcast."

A third agreed: "@MrAndrewCotter and Hazel Irvine providing a very entertaining commentary on the #ClosingCeremony. Just brilliant!! If there was gold medal for this…"
