Olympics enthusiasts were left less than impressed with the LA segment during tonight's closing ceremony.
The spectacle concluded with Tom Cruise making a dramatic exit by leaping from the top of the Stade de France, then weaving through the crowd on a motorcycle to retrieve the Olympic flag for its journey back to Los Angeles. However, the mood soured for some when Tom appeared in a video segment transporting the flag to the iconic Hollywood sign.
Subsequently, performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, and Snoop Dogg broadcasted from a Californian beach failed to lift spirits, as viewers expressed their discontent over the lack of live entertainment for the athletes and stadium audience.
One viewer lamented: "Would be a bit disappointing to be in the Paris stadium and then to have the USA handover so far consist of a pre recorded Tom Cruise video package and now the live performances of Red Hot Chilli peppers and Billie Eilish on the stadium screens #ClosingCeremony," while another questioned: "Nice handover and gig in LA. Are there large screens in the Stade de France? Asking for 90,000 people... #Paris2024."
A third remarked: "So...is there LA section just being shown on screens in Paris? ", reports the Mirror.
Spectators at the Olympic Closing Ceremony took to social media to voice their disappointment, with one viewer saying: "Kinda sucks that they couldn't have these people performing in Paris so it's all together. Imagine being all excited in the stadium and having to watch on the screens. #ClosingCeremony," while another lamented the lack of atmosphere with a comment: "Long pauses, awkward silences. Shame these performers didn't come to the SDF to perform instead of the athletes craning their necks on the big screens."
A further user remarked: "So the people in Paris just have to watch this in the screens. #ClosingCeremony."

Hollywood cheer was also in abundance, with appearances from global giants Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Billie Eilish, and no other than silver screen icon Tom Cruise.
