Gladiators: Bradley teases the return of Jet and Wolf

A host of well-known celebrities are set to join the lineup for Celebrity Gladiators next year, and as anticipation builds, four stars have been confirmed to tackle the challenge.

The BBC has greenlit a second season of the reimagined Gladiators due to its roaring success, exciting fans earlier this year.

The broadcasting giant added more buzz among fans when it announced a celebrity special edition of the show, scheduled to be broadcast on BBC One in early 2025.

Since then, there's been speculation about which familiar faces will brave the arena against the formidable Gladiators.

After much fanfare and guessing games, Louise Minchin, Joel Dommett, Rob Beckett, and Ellie Taylor have been officially revealed as competitors for the Celebrity Gladiators extravaganza.

These famed figures are set to undergo punishing trials against the "superhuman" Gladiators, with production beginning upcoming Wednesday, August 7, 2024. They're all geared up to take on the strenuous assault course aptly named the Eliminator, reports the Mirror.

Louise Minchin, the former face of BBC Breakfast who turned into a seasoned triathlete, expressed her keenness as she said: "I am so excited to be on Gladiators, I have watched the show for years and have always thought it looked like terrifying fun and I can’t wait to be part of it!”

The presenter might just have an edge over her fellow contestants as the 55-year-old ventured into endurance sports, post a festive cycling endeavour for the BBC back in 2012, and has even proudly represented Britain in international triathlon competitions.

Joel from The Masked Singer couldn't contain his excitement about joining Celebrity Gladiators, saying: "I've been illegally running up escalators backwards all my life in preparation and now it's happening for real. Super excited to be up against all my favourite muscley people in leotards and have some fun".

He might just have an edge, having previously run the London Marathon in a piranha costume to support Shooting Star Children's Hospices.

Ellie Taylor, known for Strictly Come Dancing and Ted Lasso, shared her enthusiasm too: "We all love the show in my house and I'm so excited to take part. I can't wait to get chased by athletic goddesses and ask Viper about his childhood."

Comedian Rob Beckett also chimed in with his typical humour: "I can't wait to be absolutely crushed by the Gladiators in front of my wife and children in Spandex whilst I watch Joel Dommett and his six-pack sprint past me on the travelator."

He then added with a laugh: "This is going to be a catastrophic humiliation in front of the nation. I've got no idea why I agreed to this. Is it too late to pull out?"

The iconic competition show Gladiators, which first aired from 1992 to 2000 in the UK, made a triumphant return earlier this year featuring a new cast of 16 "superhumans" including Olympians, bodybuilders, and weightlifting champions.

The Chase's Bradley Walsh and his son Barney presented the 11-episode series which saw Marie-Louise Nicholson and Finlay Anderson emerge as the champions.
