The Thursday Murder Club phenomenon shows no signs of stopping as creator Richard Osman teases fans with the announcement of a fifth book in the works.

Flashing a hint of what's to come, the beloved ex-Pointless host shared a glimpse on social media, sporting his trusty writing tools and a paper flaunting 'TTMC 5' at the top. His accompanying caption?

"Every new book starts somewhere," whetting appetites for another sleuthing adventure.

Debuting four years back, Osman's hit series now boasts four titles kicking off with 2020's The Thursday Murder Club, followed by The Man Who Died Twice in 2021, The Bullet That Missed storming shelves in 2022, and 2023 welcoming The Last Devil to Die into the mix.

The franchise's allure even caught Hollywood titan Steven Spielberg's eye, with his Amblin Entertainment snapping up film rights to the debut novel well ahead of its launch.

Hot on the heels of Osman's tantalising semi-reveal came a flurry of fan theories and wish-lists, proposing such gems as "I think Ron needs a cat", "Joyce needs a man" and "I really hope there's at least 2 murders and 2 weddings!! Soo excited!!!", reports the Mirror.

Curiosity bloomed with one follower pondering, "Will Elizabeth and Victoria head to Dubai?", and another musing, "I would love to see more of the grandson - cool kids make adult books even cooler".

Amidst the excitement, an eager aficionado queried how long they'll have to bide time before they can clutch this hotly anticipated instalment in their hands.

Meanwhile, Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is currently filming The Thursday Murder Club for Netflix. The film features an all-star cast including the legendary Sir Ben Kingsley, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and Celia Imrie in the main roles of Ibrahim, Ron, Elizabeth and Joyce.

The plot revolves around their investigation into the death of a property developer in their retirement village.

The ensemble cast is further bolstered by Game of Thrones' Jonathan Pryce, Withnail and I's Richard E. Grant, Mickey 17's Naomi Ackie, Doctor Who's David Tennant, Line of Duty's Daniel Mays, Lucifer's Tom Ellis, and Ingrid Oliver, wife of Osman.
