The Great British Sewing Bee contestants start to panic

BBC's hit show, The Great British Sewing Bee had fans breathing out a "sigh of relief" after contestant Suzy was sadly sent home before next week's epic final.

During Wednesday's penultimate episode (July 17), the final four contestants were set three challenges inspired by design icons.

Firstly, the sewers were tasked with recreating a dress inspired by master pattern cutter Cristobal Balenciaga in the Pattern Challenge.

Next up, in the transformation challenge, the foursome was given a pile of neckties and asked to create a new garment, taking inspiration from the iconic Jean Paul Gaultier.

And in the made-to-measure challenge, Coco Chanel was the focus as the sewers had the opportunity to delve into her extensive career to find a style that inspires an outfit.

Alisa, Pascha, Luke and Suzy went head to head as they put their best foot forward to hopefully secure their place in the final.

But as all four dressmakers started to feel the heat, Suzy's garments stood out as not being quite up to scratch.

Unfortunately for Suzy, both her garments in the first and second rounds came last place, with judge Patrick Grant telling her that one of her dresses displayed "clearly a rough job on the bottom hem".

For the final challenge, Suzy wasn't able to pull it out of the bag, leaving judges Patrick and Esme Young with no other choice than to send her home.

But for fans at home, Suzy's dismissal was an appreciated one as they felt she probably should have gone home a few weeks prior.

Taking to X, one viewer said: "Sighs of relief all round… #SewingBee." Another penned: "Right decision, Suzy was definitely the weakest this week."

A third added: "Finally, the correct decision!" While a fourth said:"FINALLY! about 4 weeks too late."

However, other fans voiced their support of Suzy, and it is clear she will be missed by the show moving forward.
