ITV's new show, inspired by the hit series Squid Game, has reportedly been plunged into chaos after three contestants were rushed to hospital. The programme, 99 to Beat, hosted by Adam and Ryan Thomas, sees contestants compete in a series of tasks to be the last one standing.

However, the show has been dubbed a "f***ing disaster" by insiders after contestants developed allergic reactions to hay during one of the challenges.

One contestant also reportedly suffered a head injury after collapsing in the toilets, although no life-changing injuries have been reported.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called this morning to Shinfield to reports of people who had become unwell. We sent to the scene a number of ambulance resources to assess patients.

"Three patients were taken to hospital for further treatment to non-life threatening issues, and others were assessed at the scene but did not require hospital treatment."

A representative for the production company told the Mirror: "A small number of contestants received medical attention after having an adverse reaction to hay while participating in a game to retrieve chopsticks from a large haystack. Filming was temporarily suspended and is due to resume later this week.

"Contributor welfare remains our top priority, and our established robust health and safety processes are regularly reviewed and assessed."

Before all challenges are commenced, a thorough risk assessment is carried out, with health and safety bosses on the show deeming the game to be a low risk.

Throughout the game, all those participating were required to wear goggles as a precaution and an on-site medic was present and rapidly responded to the contestants who took ill.

99 To Beat has enjoyed success in European countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, and Belgium.

Kate Rawcliffe, ITV's producer, shared insights into the dynamics of the show: "As the contestants compete they also form tight bonds and as they get to know each other, we get to see who plays well, who buckles under the pressure and who has lasting power."

Katy Manley, executive producer for Initial, added: "What's brilliant about it is that anyone has a real shot at winning. Whether you're 18 or 80, players don't need to be experts in one particular skill.

"Winning is not important it's not coming last that counts. The human stories that sit alongside the gameplay will provide heart, humour and drama throughout."
