Fans of the horror genre are in for a treat as Netflix has just released the trailer for a new film titled The Deliverance and they won't have long to wait to actually watch the film itself. The spooktacular new offering will be available to stream on the platform at the end of next month and going off of the trailer, viewers are in for a fright.

The film is based on a true story in the form of the Ammons haunting case, where a haunting and demonic possession happened in Gary, Indiana in the United States in 2011. Latoya Ammons, her mother Rosa Campbell and her three children claimed they were the subject of paranormal activity at their home.

The story was made public in January 2014 and received national attention, and now viewers will get to see what actually happened to the family on the small screen. The trailer begins with social worker telling the family, "Whatever is says to you, do not listen to it. It will play on your heart, it will play on your mind.

"My name is Apostle Bernice James. The other person present is Ebony Jackson, the mother." Speaking to a higher power, she continues: "Father, we ask that you cleanse and sanctify us for this deliverance."

She then carries out an exorcism as a demonic creature can be heard making hissing sounds in the background. A series of scary scenes are depicted, including flashing lights and humans being possessed as a religious leader continues to chant, "You shall be saved" in the background.

Netflix captioned the post on Instagram: "Inspired by a chilling true story of possession. The Deliverance arrives on Netflix 30 August."

The movie stars Andra Day as Ebony, Glenn Close as Alberta, Mo'Nique as the social worker, as well as Aujane Ellis-Taylor, Caleb McLaughlin and Demi Singleton in unspecified roles.

It's been directed by Lee Daniels who has previously directed the films Precious and The United States vs Billie Holiday.

Eager fans flocked to the comments section to express their excitement for the film as one person wrote on YouTube: "Directed by Lee daniels, Glenn close in it. Enough said. Take my money. Why, take my soul too. This is gonna be great. I can feel it in my bone."

While a fourth added: "This looks really good. I remember reading the true story on the news."

The Deliverance is available to stream on Netflix on August 30.
