Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has turned to the club's youth ranks in a bid to shake up training sessions amid a challenging start to his tenure.

The 39-year-old, who has only managed four wins from his first 12 games, is currently on a four-match winless run.

However, there was a glimmer of hope in their recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. A stern test awaits this Sunday as United face Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.

Newcastle recently became the first team to secure a victory at the Emirates Stadium since Aston Villa in April, highlighting the magnitude of the task ahead for Amorim.

In preparation for the match, the United manager has brought in academy players Jack Moorhouse, Tyler Fredricson, Godwill Kukonki and Elyh Harrison to train with the first team at Carrington.

Harrison, an 18-year-old goalkeeper, was recently recalled from his loan spell at National League North side Chester and has been thrust into training alongside Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton.

The move aims to give the young shot-stopper more experience while also providing additional cover should Bayindir depart this month.

Manchester-born 19-year-old midfielder Moorhouse, who has been impressing in the under-21s side this season, will be keen to catch Amorim's eye.

The youngster was nominated for the Premier League 2 player of the month award for December after an excellent run of form.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Kukonki and 19-year-old Fredricson, both defenders, have previously caught Amorim's attention.

Kukonki, considered the next big thing from the club's academy, has been on the bench for matches against Arsenal and Newcastle. Fredricson, on the other hand, has captained the under-21s.

Marcus Rashford was notably absent from Wednesday's training session. The United forward, who missed the 2-2 draw against Liverpool due to illness, is reportedly still recovering.

Rashford's brother and agent Dane was spotted in Milan earlier this week, sparking rumours of a potential loan move to AC Milan in the January transfer window.

Despite United's preference to sell the England international, his hefty £325,000-a-week wages and £40million valuation could prove to be a stumbling block in negotiations.
