Darwin Nunez reportedly has no intention of leaving Liverpool this week despite reports claiming that his head has been turned by interest elsewhere.

The Uruguay international has played just 18 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, with Arne Slot putting his trust in Diogo Jota to lead the line for the Reds.

However, despite speculative reports claiming that Arsenal were interested in signing Nunez as he had grown unhappy on Merseyside, the striker is said to remain content at Anfield.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is ‘absolutely nothing’ happening between Liverpool and Arsenal in regards to Nunez. The former Benfica star does not plan to leave Liverpool and is claimed to be settling in well to life under Slot.

Nunez is therefore ‘fully focused’ on the Reds, with talks involving the Gunners played down entirely.

Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly in the market for attacking reinforcements in the final 48 hours of the transfer window, though they will have to divert their attention to alternative options if they were planning to raid their title rivals.

Liverpool are on the cusp of bolstering their attacking ranks themselves after being very quiet during the opening few months of the transfer window.

The Reds are closing in on the signing of Italian international Federico Chiesa after Juventus manager Thiago Motta publicly declared that the forward did not feature in his plans for the 2024/25 and that he should look for a solution.

Liverpool have reached an agreement in the region of £11million for the signing of the 26-year-old, with his medical taking place this morning. Chiesa is capable of playing on both wings as well as in central areas, though Nunez will be hoping that the ex-Fiorentina star has been brought in to provide cover for Mohamed Salah on the right wing.

The Egypt international is in the final 12 months of his contract with Liverpool and it is unclear whether he will pen another deal with the club. Thus, the Reds were keen to sign an alternative option to Salah out wide who can provide cover for him in the short term but potentially succeed him when the time comes for Liverpool to part ways with their legendary No. 11.
