Matt Goodwin discusses immigration on GB News
GB News had already announced on Wednesday that Isabel Webster was being axed from the morning show she co-hosted with Eamonn Holmes, with Ellie Costello promoted to a five day working week instead.
However, until now fans hadn't known who would be replacing Mark Dolan - and the news caused quite a stir over on X. Matt Goodwin took to the app to announce he was stepping in, vowing he'd provide a voice the "forgotten majority" could relate to.
"I’ll be joining @GBNews as a permanent presenter in 2025," he teased, adding that his show State of The Nation with Matt Goodwin would hit the airwaves three days a week at 8pm. Fans will be looking forward to tuning in on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from January 8 onwards.
"Join me and let’s give voice to the Forgotten Majority!" he urged. Fans were quick to link his announcement to the one that Dolan would be leaving.
One asked: "Brilliant news, Matt, but is this why Mark got the boot?" Another echoed: "Is that why Mark Dolan was pushed out, who is next??"

A third thought she could have predicted the change, joking: "I just said to my husband last night that you should have your own show. Obviously, channelling my inner mystic Meg!"
Fans celebrated, arguing that "bold voices should be heard, not silenced", but some feared for the safety of their favourite hosts as they shared their shock about the huge shake-up on the channel.
Multiple people asked whether Jacob Rees-Mogg, whose reality show Meet The Rees-Moggs launched last month, was "safe" from the axe.
Several also called for Matt to become a Reform UK MP to represent Devon locals.
