Fans hoping to see the rumoured romance unfold between I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Maura Higgins and Strictly contestant Pete Wicks might be in for a disappointment.
The ex-Love Islander has clarified that she is "very much single" ahead of her jungle debut. She also dismissed interest about her love life as "boring".
Maura didn't deny stepping out on a date with Pete though, merely pointing out that she's "been on a date with many people". "I date but I'm very much single. Honestly, I just think the interest in my dating life is so boring," she continued.
"People go on dates. Like everyone goes on dates, but then it suddenly becomes that I am in a relationship with this person, or that person..." Instead, she seems firmly focused on her career - and is preparing for an experience that those close to her could never have imagined her embarking on.
Maura confided to The Mirror that she'd never even been the type to camp out at a music festival, let alone being surrounded by tarantulas and snakes in the Australian jungle. Yet here she finds herself, and just hours after a huge party in Las Vegas which she says has given her "the shakes", she's ready to make her next TV appearance.

"I'm [usually] more of an indoor girl…I like my hotels," she explained, adding that she'd "never" slept outside before.
"[Even at festivals], I'm always like, 'No, get me back to a hotel!’”
Now she'll be joining the likes of WAG Coleen Rooney, ex-Strictly star Oti Mabuse and radio host Dean McCullough in one of the biggest challenges of her career so far.
Normally calm Maura has admitted that a creepy crawly encounter could send her over the edge, as she exclaimed that she "might die".

It's safe to say that Pete, who has been predicted to be the next to face elimination from Strictly, is the last thing on her mind.
It was speculated on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning that some I'm A Celebrity contestants were wearing permanent makeup and tattooing it onto themselves before arriving in the jungle - but Maura is determined to keep things au naturel.
"I cannot wait to just not have to get up and put makeup on and care about it, because it's not that type of show. Like, you're not really in there to look good, are you?” she exclaimed.
Meanwhile, the terrified tears and screams of Dean McCullough after he was locked into a sarcophagus on yesterday's show may have unnerved Maura, but the show must go on.
