A four-part thriller featuring a Coronation Street icon has landed on Netflix as of yesterday (November 18), and it's sure to get viewers talking. The intense revenge drama, titled Cold Call, originally aired on Channel 5 in 2019 and stars Corrie's Sally Lindsay as June Clarke, a single mother.

Sally gained fame for her role as Shelley Unwin on the ITV soap from 2001 to 2006, where she was involved in numerous unforgettable storylines and even bagged the Best Actress award at the Inside Soap Awards in 2005.

Cold Call also boasts a cast including Taj Atwal from BBC's Death in Paradise and Daniel Ryan, recognisable from ITV's The Bay. In the 13th season of the popular BBC series, Taj portrays Zoe Ainsworth, who confronts DI Neville Parker (Ralf Little) at Catherine's bar.

Netflix subscribers are sure to be captivated by the tense Channel 5 drama Cold Call, which has found a new audience on the streaming platform. The plot revolves around June, who falls victim to a cold-call scam that results in her losing her home.

The single mother becomes resolute in tracking down those responsible, leading to a gripping tale of revenge as she fights to secure her family's future, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Five years ago, Sally discussed with Digital Spy how "detailed" the drama was in its portrayal of the world of scamming. She commented: "It's happening to very, very normal people all the time and we've not really seen it on screens."

"I think we're all very normal characters and I think you could see any of us in any day, in any workplace, in any shop," the actress remarked about the relatability of the roles.

She highlighted the stark contrast with the plot, saying: "That's what the shocking thing is. This very extraordinary thing happening to these very normal people."

She further elaborated on her character's resilience despite a challenging life, adding: "In a way, this woman, constantly all her life, has done the right thing. She's been an amazing carer, an amazing mum. She's had nothing. No help."

The actress continued: "Done it herself and she thinks if I just do everything right in my life, everything will be fine, and it's not."

The star then delved into the character's breaking point, concluding: "So it's literally just a tipping point. She's had enough and she turns and it's amazing how she finds the inner strength to do what she does, and the darkness of how far she'll go."

Cold Call is available to stream now on Netflix.
