Scott Mills has opened up on Zoe Ball's "tough year" after being announced as her replacement as host of the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.
The BBC presenter made the shock announcement this morning, November 19, that she would be leaving the role after six years in December.
Zoe, 53, who took over the Radio 2 morning programme in 2019 from Chris Evans, said she was leaving the show to focus on family before formally announcing Scott as her replacement.
Joining her on the show, Scott said that he was "beyond excited" to be replacing Zoe before discussing his early memories working at the BBC and his long friendship with Zoe.
Zoe was a guest at Scott's "incredible" Barcelona wedding in June as he tied the knot with partner Sam Vaughan, and Scott said he was delighted that fellow BBC star was able to make it.

He said: "Fast forward to this year, and I just want to say it meant so much to me that you came to my wedding because I wasn't sure if you were going to make it.
"I know you've had such a tough year but on the big day, actually the day before on the Friday, you text me like 'I'm on the plane' and I shouted to Sam like 'Zoe's on the plane' and I was so glad you could come."
Zoe admitted that she "really needed that weekend" after her tough year and added that she wouldn't have missed Scott's wedding "for the world".
She said: "To see you and Sam and to see how in love you are, which we all got to see on Race Across The World and I love you both to pieces. You're going to be amazing at this job."
