US election: Emily Maitlis told off for swearing on air by co-star
Channel 4's America Decides: US Presidential Election has been hit with 152 Ofcom complaints following its broadcast on November 5.
The programme, fronted by Emily Maitlis and Krishnan Guru-Murthy, has been accused of "anti-Republican bias" surrounding its coverage of Donald Trump.
During the programme, Emily, 54, was forced to apologise after she inadvertently uttered a swear word. The journalist remarked while recalling a controversial statement made by the President-elect: "It's not that they disagree about one thing. The whole thing is asymmetric.
"When Donald Trump talked about eating cats and dogs. Half of America was thinking, 'This is bats**t. I can't believe what he's saying. This is going to be the end of him'."
Krishnan quickly interjected: "Stop swearing. I have to tell [the guests] off for swearing and then you do it!"

Moments later, viewers noticed that Emily had disappeared from the panel.
Krishnan, 54, commented: "I will tell off Emily later because I know she started swearing. It may be the middle of the night in Britain but we're still a little bit sensitive about that stuff."
Emily later explained that she had left the studio to record an episode of The News Agents podcast.
A Twitter user wrote: "There’s a MAGA hat in the post to anyone who has the clip of Maitlis swearing and leaving the Channel 4 News studio in disgrace."
To which the broadcaster replied: "Do I get one? Sadly no disgrace. Left to record The News Agents – for half an hour. episode here!"

Earlier in Channel 4's coverage of the US election, Emily clashed with Boris Johnson when he repeatedly plugged his new memoir, Unleashed.
During the broadcast, Emily asked the former prime minister whether he was planning to follow in Trump's footsteps regarding a political comeback, to which he suggested the answer was contained in his book.
Emily fumed: "We are not all going to read your book, so just tell us, do you want to have a political comeback... You can't actually answer a single question."
The former prime minister responded: "By the way Emily I've answered all your questions all night. Currently I am blissfully engaged promoting my book Unleashed, available in all good book stores."
After being challenged, Mr Johnson claimed: "Here is Channel 4 news, run by Ian Katz, sitting here doing the same old stunt that you tried in 2004 taking a massively skewed approach to a US election. I'm not standing for election here."
