Netflix users are up in arms as another much-loved series faces the axe. The streaming giant's reputation for cutting shows short has viewers barely batting an eyelid now.
Just this month, fans were left aghast as both Kaos and That '90s Show met their demise, with October proving to be a grim period for the platform's catalogue.
Recently, the axe swung down on Unstable, starring Rob Lowe, leading the comedy to wrap up after just two seasons.
Many feel the show hadn't reached its potential, while some point to a lacklustre second season as a sign of things to come.
The streamer's subscribers have grown weary, anticipating a fleeting lifespan for Netflix's offerings in stark contrast to other services.
"Bummed to hear 'Unstable' got canceled after just two seasons," one fan said on X (formerly Twitter).
"It had such a quirky charm! Guess I'll have to find a new favorite show now."
"Like Netflix can't even surprise me anymore!" another fumed.
"That's a bummer I thought Unstable had potential It's tough to see shows get canceled," a third said.
"At this point I mostly hear about Netflix shows via their cancelation," another viewer admitted on Reddit.
"They make way too many shows to effectively market them, and then instantly kill them off if they don't become a viral hit by happenstance."
One fan attributed the decline in quality to a change in writers and showrunner between seasons, stating: "My friend worked on this show. They changed writers and showrunner from S1 to S2, as many networks do unfortunately.
"And the show paid the price for it. S1 was a delightful and cozy, S2 lost the plot. Not to mention there was basically zero promo when S2 was released."
Another viewer expressed similar sentiments, saying: "Not surprised by this one. While the show has its moments of being funny, overall it's average at best."
They suggested that the show's reliance on Rob Lowe's star power may not have been enough, commenting: "Maybe they were banking on Rob Lowe being in it as enough to gain an audience."
Despite this, Lowe continues to thrive in his role as Captain Owen Strand in the popular Fox drama 911: Lone Star, and has also taken on a new role as host of the game show The Floor.
However, his venture into streaming has been less successful, and it was recently announced that Lone Star will conclude with its fifth season.
