The New Marvel series Agatha All Along will finally be released this week after various delays - but when is it set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline?
Kathryn Hahn will return as Agatha Harkness after she was defeated by Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olson) during the MCU series WandaVision. Agatha haunted Wanda within The Hex which was Westview, but now finds herself trapped in a new world and broken out by a suspicious goth Teen played by Joe Locke.
He asks her to take him down the Witches’ Road — which rewards a witch with what they are missing if they survive the gauntlet of challenges. A coven gathers to make the harrowing journey as Agatha battles her own demons.
Alongside star Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza will make her MCU debut as Rio Vidal, a warrior witch in Harkness and Calderu's coven. The cast will also feature Heartstopper’s Joe Locke, SNL’s Sasheer Zamata, Orange is the New Black’s Ali Ahn as well as Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, Debra Jo Rupp and Patti LuPone.
Agatha All Along is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ with its first two episodes on September 18, 2024, with subsequent episodes being released weekly. The final two episodes will be released on Wednesday, October 30.

Set three years after the events of WandaVision, the show will begin with Agatha trapped in the fake reality Westview by Wanda. The fake reality looks like a homage to HBO's Mare of Easttown, with Kathryn Hahn appearing as a police detective investigating a body in the woods.
Since the events of WandaVision, Wanda attempted to get her children from Wandavision, Billy and Tommy, back by using dark magic in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
Doctor Strange uses his own dark magic to stop her and she appears to sacrifice herself to end the Darkhold. We can assume this is what causes the spell on Agatha to weaken and lead to Agatha breaking out of Westview.
Agatha forms a coven and wants to undertake a series of dangerous trials to restore her power. Agatha All Along is also set during Phase 5 of the MCU timeline.

A plot synopsis from Disney reads: "In 'Agatha All Along', the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell.
"Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches' Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they're missing.
"Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road...

Showrunner Jac Schaeffer, who was the creative force behind "WandaVision," directs the pilot episode, with other directors for the series including Rachel Goldberg and Gandja Monteiro.
