Lisa Snowdon felt it almost wasn't "safe to leave the house" while she battled with her health, which left her unable to "get out of bed".

The TV presenter, 53, discussed her "scary symptoms" with sports broadcaster Gabby Logan on a new episode of The Mid Point podcast this week.

Lisa, who is best known for her work on ITV's This Morning, listed the symptoms she experienced when she was going through the menopause. She also had a message for anyone who may be experiencing the same symptoms.

Lisa said: "My periods started going from a 28-day cycle to a 23, to an 18, to then every three days and then a really heavy bleed where you're almost haemorrhaging blood and you're just...

"You know, it's not safe to leave the house almost. Pain; couldn't get out of bed some days and you know, for anybody who has been affected by perimenopause or menopause or hasn't been yet, please don't be scared."

She continued: "I hope to talk about this and yes, there are some scary symptoms, but now knowing what I know, if I'd have recognised them to be perimenopause or menopause or...it would have made much more sense. I could've got some help."

Lisa also explained the scope of her early symptoms, which included anxiety, depression, panic attacks, heart palpitations, and even a "bout of vertigo", which left her feeling "spun out" and nauseous.

She then detailed how she'd driven to her dad's home on a Sunday for lunch, but had to lie down and was unsure how she would be able to drive back home to London.

Despite this, Lisa said it was the panic and anxiety that were the "strong physical symptoms". She ended up feeling that this was now her life and thought she'd "stretched" herself "too thin".

However, it didn't end there, as Lisa said she started getting "really angry rages" and would be "snappy" and have no patience, flying "off the handle for no reason".

The Celebrity MasterChef winner, 53, previously appeared on James Martin's Saturday Morning, where she discussed her book, 'Just Getting Started: Lessons in Life, Love and Menopause'.

Lisa, who went through the menopause in her early 40s, explained that when she was in the "early perimenopausal stages" of her life, she didn't understand what was happening to her.

She said she felt "very peculiar, very strange, very emotional, quite unwell" before revealing that she wrote the book she wished she "had ten years ago".
