TM: Wynne Evans admits to feeling like a competition winner

Wynne Evans has candidly expressed his nerves about the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing season.

The Go Compare singing icon, 52, is set to swap his opera performances for the ballroom and confessed he's 'absolutely terrified' as the show approaches.

Speaking on Wednesday's This Morning, Wynne exclaimed: "I'm absolutely terrified!", and humorously remarked: "I feel like a competition winner like any moment now they're going to ask me to leave the studio because that moment has passed. I've had my picture with all the celebs and now it's time to go home to do my own thing! I've done the meet and greet!"

Elsewhere during the interview, This Morning host Ben Shephard probed Wynne for details about his professional dance partner, which remains under wraps until the launch show this Saturday. Teasing viewers, Wynne said: "I'd love to tell you who it is, my partner is... no I can't tell you who it is, I don't want to spoil the surprise! What I love more than anything is watching the stuff online, where people try and guess. At the moment, I'm with Nick Knowles [fellow celebrity contestant]."

The singer was the third celebrity contestant confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing earlier this year. Wynne is best known for his operatic skills, throughout his 25-year career he has had two number one classical music albums, has been a principal at most of the major opera houses around the world and has given over 200 performances at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Wynne currently has a daily radio show on BBC Radio Wales and has previously had radio shows on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, he is also known for the Go Compare adverts, reports Wales Online.

The singer said earlier this year after he was announced for the show: "I am honestly still pinching myself, a portly balding opera singer, me, taking part in Strictly Come Dancing?!"

"I'm not entirely sure how I'll get along, if all else fails I'll just have to learn the art of distraction. What I do know is I will give it my all and aim to make Wales proud," he added.

Revealing his plan for the show, he continued: "I'm definitely going to try and combine my love of Opera into one of my routines. Plus, after winning Celebrity MasterChef last year, maybe the route to the judges' hearts will be through their stomachs!"

This Morning continues on weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV X and Strictly returns to BBC One on September 16
