Coronation Street fans thrilled as Amy Barlow star reunites with former co-star after exit

Coronation Street's Amy Barlow star Elle Mulvaney recently sparked excitement among fans with a sweet reunion snap.

The actress, 21, took to Instagram to post a picture with actor Jack James Ryan, who previously played her on-screen beau Jacob Hay, during a day out in London. They were also joined by former co-star James Craven, who portrayed Aaron Sandford on the soap.

Elle captioned the image: "@thamesrockets getting the gang back together (minus @harrietanneb)." Soap fans will remember that Jack made his departure from Coronation Street in 2023, leaving viewers with heart-wrenching moments as his character Jacob was compelled to abandon Weatherfield. His evil father Damon Hay orchestrated his exit due to crime-related complications, after a failed drug drop at The Bistro went sideways.

Under threat from his father to safeguard himself and girlfriend Amy, Jacob was coerced into taking responsibility for the botched drug operation, leading to an emotional farewell. Viewers were sad over Jacob's departure, having witnessed his character transform for the better before being sabotaged by his father's interference.

Elle's reunion post had Coronation Street fans and fellow cast members, both old and new, brimming with excitement. Alex Bain, known for his role as Simon Barlow, chimed in: "Awww hope you all had a fantastic time" while current star Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman, declared: "My people" followed by a loving heart emoji, reports the Mirror.

Fans also joined in with one writing: "Fab pics x", another put: "Great pics. Need the whole quartet back together" while a different follower added: "Great photo of you all, hope you had the best time x."

After Jack's last scene as Jacob aired last year, the soap actor described his exit from the cobbles as "heartbreaking" and shared insights into what catalysed his decision to quit. After discussions with the showrunners about future storylines for his character, Jack decided it was time to explore new opportunities.

Meanwhile, it's an exciting time for Jack as he recently shared his excitement of landing a new role alongside a major star. The Passenger actor took to Instagram to share that he'd been "geeking" over Sheridan Smith for "as long" as he could remember. Now, he's landed a role opposite the Gavin and Stacey star in a big new ITV drama, I Fought The Law.
