Lorraine: Presenter squeals over Dermot O'Leary throwback pic
Lorraine Kelly couldn't contain her reaction to an old snapshot of Dermot O'Leary on Tuesday's episode of Lorraine.
During the segment, the 64 year old host engaged in banter with This Morning's Dermot, 51, discussing his latest venture into children's literature with Spy Fox and Agent Feathers, alongside his illustrious television history and ties with presenter Andi Peters.
As Andi, 54, joined live from Austria for his regular competition segment, Lorraine remarked: "Now look, Andi Peters and you go back a long way. Don't you?" In response, Andi disclosed: "When I first met Dermot, absolutely Lorraine, I saw something in him that I thought television needed."
Following this, the studio aired a flashback photograph of Dermot, provoking an audible gasp from Lorraine as she exclaimed: "Is that you Dermot O'Leary? Sorry, I'm frightened of him!" Confused, Dermot inquired: "You're frightened of it?" prompting Lorraine to justify: "I'm frightened of you!"
To which Dermot probed: "Why are you frightened of me?" leading to Lorraine to admit: "Because you look terrifying with your skinhead!" Dermot then revealed: "Can I say, Alison wants me to do that haircut again" with Lorraine responding: "She does? No, tell her no!" But Dermot teasingly countered: "I'm quite up for it, to shave it all off!", reports the Mirror.
Meanwhile, Dermot, a familiar face on This Morning, has connections with more than just Andi Peters. He also shares a history with fellow presenter Ben Shephard. Andi had previously disclosed that he was responsible for giving Ben his first television job and remains his longest-standing friend in the industry. Dermot and Ben were colleagues on Channel 4's T4, where Ben served as a presenter alongside Dermot back in 1999.
When Ben transitioned from Good Morning Britain to This Morning earlier this year, he reminisced about his connection with Dermot, stating: "There is a lovely bit of serendipity as I move through the wall that Dermot is there again. My first telly family was T4 and now..."
In a nostalgic moment last year, Ben, Andi, and Dermot came together to recreate a photograph from their television past two decades ago.
At the time, Ben provided some context to the original image, saying: "What people might not realise, maybe some, is that Dermot and I started on television together, way, way back in the original carnation of Channel 4 's T4. And there is someone else there, you might recognise, television's Andi Peters, who gave us both our first jobs in television."
