Coronation Street: Paul passes away in emotional scenes
Coronation Street favourite Harriet Bibby, who stars as Summer Spellman in the ITV drama, expressed her affection with a simple "Love you!" to colleague Peter Ash. The emotional departure of Paul Foreman, played by Ash, from Weatherfield left fans heartbroken after his character lost the fight against motor neurone disease on Monday (September 9).
Harriet Bibby paid a loving tribute as she said goodbye to Peter Ash, portraying Paul Foreman until his tragic end in Monday's poignant episode. Fans witnessed moving moments where Summer, alongside Gemma and Bernie, were in tears by Paul's bedside, as his partner Billy Mayhew desperately tried to reach him for a final farewell only to arrive too late.
Revealing his last episode's script on social media, Peter showed the somber conclusion: "Billy flying down the corridor and into Paul's room where the doctor is pronouncing Paul's death. Billy screams out in anguish, realising he's too late."
He emotionally added to the caption that while Paul's story may have ended, many are truly living with MND and encouraged followers to support them.
Ash shared his gratitude on Instagram for the love received following the episode and urged people to support those affected by MND. His co-stars flooded the comments section showing their support where Harriet Bibby was among the first, sweetly penning: "Love you, Pete," reports the Mirror.
Cait Fitton, starring as Lauren Bolton in the show, shared her pride: "We are all so proud of you and everyone involved! Delivered with so much care, honesty and truthfulness. We miss you Pete."
Daniel Brocklebank, who portrays his on-screen husband, expressed admiration saying: "You've played a blinder my friend. You have no idea how much you're missed."
Jane Hazlegrove, known for her role as Paul's mother Bernie, couldn't contain her emotions: "I'm crying!! You made me cry again Peter!! What a performance sweetheart... you are a joy to work with... an absolute pleasure to see every day. Sleeves up... in you go! And what a legacy! You have given such care to this MND story! Be proud kid, 'cos we are!"
Claire Sweeney, assuming the role of Cassie in the series, was touched by the performances, remarking: "It was so moving and you have been fabulous, as is everyone involved in this storyline, writers, crew and everyone."
Paddy Bever, famous for his role as Max Turner, showed support with a simple red heart emoji. Celebrities from different realms, including Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick and comedy legend Paul Chuckle, extended their thoughts and well wishes too.
