Natasha Raskin-Sharp inspects 500-year-old painting

Bargain Hunt expert Natasha Raskin Sharp helps present the BBC show and she has offered her many years of knowledge to the amateur teams. The 38-year-old is the daughter of contemporary Scottish artist Philip Raskin, so her passion for art is in her blood.

She was born in 1986 in Glasgow and is the middle of three children in a family of art lovers and collectors. However, a career in art and antiques was not something she had originally envisioned.

Initially, she studied law at the University of Leeds but left her degree course after just a month. After taking the rest of the academic year off, she went to the University of Glasgow to study History of Art.

Still living in Glasgow, she is married to her husband Joe Sharp and she gave birth to her first child, Jean, in January 2024. She took some time out of work to look after her baby girl but is now back doing what she loves.

Here is everything you need to know about who Natasha works for.

Natasha has worked for a number of people over the years, but she has also launched her own ventures.

In 2021, amidst the coronavirus pandemic, she set up a new business auctioning artworks from the studios where they were made.

She told Glasgow West End Today: "I thought about launching my own auction house or art gallery but, given that I spend so much time on the road, the idea of working within fixed premises isn’t a practical one.

“So I’ve developed a more flexible style of auction offering and as it’s online-only, it’s a truly pandemic-proof concept, too.

“Each auction will offer a collection of artworks by one artist and the location for each sale will be the exhibiting artist’s studio.

“With my travelling rostrum and trusty gavel - a gift from my dad, as it happens - I’ll auction off the artworks from the very rooms in which they were created."

Since 2017, she has also worked for the BBC presenting a weekly programme on BBC Radio Scotland, playing an eclectic mix of music.

In her early career, she joined Glasgow auction house McTear's as an auctioneer and made her way up to Head of Pictures.

After her marriage, she balanced her auctioneering and valuation event duties at McTear's with her TV career.

Bargain Hunt airs on BBC One on weekdays at 12.15pm
