The Grand Tour: One For The Road - Official trailer

Richard Hammond has shared his feelings about the Amazon Prime video series drawing to a close.

The 54 year old star is set to join forces with Jeremy Clarkson and James May for one final ride in The Grand Tour: One for the Road.

Fans will witness the trio embark on a journey through Zimbabwe, driving three cars they've always dreamt of owning: a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-litre, and a Triumph Stag.

The episode is slated for global release on Prime Video on Friday 13th September 2024. In light of their last escapade together, Richard Hammond has spoken candidly about the series' conclusion.

When questioned about the emotional weight of filming the last episode, he remarked: "Not just for the three of us but the entire group. We've worked together for decades and we've been through good times and bad," reports the Mirror.

"We've seen each other in jungles covered in leeches, exhausted and grumpy in tents and boiling heat, elated in the most beautiful cities in the world. We're a great big dysfunctional family, so there were a lot of tears."

He also disclosed the "poignant" finale that showrunner Andy Wilman has crafted for the series. He commented: "I think our minds were all in the same place: there's a delicacy of touch and a poignancy that makes it all the more profound and meaningful."

"I very much suspect the audience that has been with us for all those years will watch and feel our gratitude. I hope so because that means we're all in it together. It's a lovely ending."

He added: "It's moving. It's Wilman's ability to weirdly not overdo it. You wouldn't think it possible from the loud, crass idiots we've been over the years, which was our stock in trade, but he's temporarily made us very measured, and as a result, it's fabulously done."

Jeremy Clarkson, his co-star, previously disclosed the reasons behind his decision to leave the show. He remarked: "I've driven cars higher than anyone else and further north than anyone else.

"We've done everything you can do with a car. When we had meetings about what to do next, people just threw their arms in the air."
