The Chase: Bradley Walsh explains double trouble in show shake-up

The Chase enthusiasts were treated to an unexpected twist on Monday's episode as the popular ITV quiz show featured not one, but two chasers.

Returning with a bang after a significant hiatus, the beloved quiz show launched a fresh series with Bradley Walsh steering the ship. The special instalment marked 15 years of The Chase with an innovative 'Double Trouble' format.

Bradley excitedly informed the audience that a duo of quiz masters would challenge the four contestants. Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace was up first to take on the team, followed by Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, both eager to thwart the players' success.

Fans at home were taken aback by the new setup. Flocking to X, one viewer exclaimed: "Happy 15th anniversary for #thechase. With Double Trouble rules in effect!"

Another commented: "Two Chasers today. It's a special anniversary edition. Contestants look ordinary though," reports the Mirror.

A third chimed in: "This is different!"

The 15th anniversary of The Chase also sparked a flurry of comments from the audience. While many celebrated the show's longevity, some noted that the actual anniversary fell in June.

A fan tweeted: "Happy 15th birthday episode #TheChase! 15 years of pure joy, laughter and entertainment. Bradley is the perfect host for this quiz. 15 years and still very healthy and strong in the daytime ratings! Here's to the next 15 years."

One viewer remarked: "Would it not have been better to air this 'anniversary' special in June? As that's when the actual anniversary was. This episode really should have been planned much earlier, like January or February for example. Two months late. But that's ITV for you."

Another fan pointed out: "Only @ITV could forget that the @ITVChase's 15th anniversary was actually June. Awkward."

The clever twist of having contestants named Jenny, Anne, Paul and Darragh mirroring the names of The Chase's own quizzing legends didn't escape the audience's notice. Fans flocked to social media to express their amusement once again.

A viewer commented: "I see what they did with the names." While another chuckled: "Ha love it all contestants with Chaser names."

In the episode, Shaun Wallace took on two challengers, whereas Mark Labbett battled the remaining pair. Ultimately, only one chaser advanced to the final chase.
