GMB's Andi Peters issues savage swipe to Ed Balls on live TV

Andi Peters didn't hold back as he made a savage dig at Ed Balls and Susanna Reid. Following her break for the summer holidays, the 53-year-old reclaimed her familiar position on the set of Good Morning Britain, reuniting with Ed on Monday (September 2).

Andi eagerly welcomed her return as he delivered details on ITV's latest competition. However he was noticeably less cordial as he delivered a stinging jab at Ed, 57, who had also taken time off from the show.

On location in Cheddar, Somerset, an exchange led to Ed jesting that it was "cheesy", eliciting a sharp response from Andi who promptly labelled him "rude".

The 54-year-old declared: "You're so rude, so bad, Ed! I was going to welcome you and Susanna, welcome back. Ed? Didn't miss you at all."

Earlier in the episode, Ed came under fire as he interviewed Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson about parents taking children out of school during term time for a holiday.

Phillipson, 40, branded the move unacceptable as she said: "I understand the frustrations that parents experience about wanting to make sure that they can go on holiday and the price of holidays. But I'm afraid that it's just not acceptable to take your children out of school during term time for a holiday."

However, the spotlight fell on Ed, who previously served as the Education Secretary, with viewers claiming the former politician should not be interviewing government ministers.

Sharing their frustrations on X, one wrote: "How does Good Morning Britain hold these MPs to account with Ed Balls sat there. It doesn't work...."

"Why is Ed Balls still there Interviewing government ministers? He should go," declared a second. Another penned: "How can you watch Ed Balls a failed politician interviewing his old employer?"

A fourth echoed: "Ed Balls completely zipped In challenging government ministers. Why have a presenter on who is totally biased he has a wife who is on the front bench, not really balanced."

Another probed: "Should a former cabinet Minister and husband of present Home Sec be presenting any programme that includes Political commentary?"

Good Morning Britain was hit with 8.2k Ofcom complaints following Ed's interview with his wife Yvette Cooper last month. Viewers argued that it would be impossible for him to remain impartial due to their relationship, arguing that it was “ridiculous” and said another presenter should’ve stepped in.
