Manifest creator Jeff Rake has opened up about the show’s future after it found a brand new fanbase on Netflix last year. The show, which aired for three seasons on NBC, was cancelled before fans could unravel the many mysteries and the fates of the passengers who boarded Flight 828.

However, after the series became a smash hit for Netflix and fans campaigned to bring it back, the streaming giant awarded Manifest a fourth and final season. The show then returned last year for an extended season 4, so that fans could get a proper ending.

While Manifest may have come to an end, Rake has suggested the story might not be over, as he has confirmed a spin-off is now in the works. On X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, he confirmed he was working with his creative partners on developing a new show.

He told his 39,700 followers: “MANIFEST UPDATE. Hey Manifesters! I know. It’s been a long time.

“No green light yet, but fyi my partners and I are working nonstop to bring you the spinoff you deserve. Keep the faith. Wishing you a happy and healthy 828!!! Jeff.” (sic)

He shared the update on August 28, which also served as a clever reference to the momentous Flight 828 from the show.

Manifest follows Ben Stone (Josh Dallas), Michaela Stone (Melissa Roxburgh), Saanvi Bahl (Parveen Kaur), and many others when their lives change following that fateful plane ride.

The synopsis on IMDb reads: “When a commercial airliner suddenly reappears after being missing for five years, those aboard must reintegrate into society.”

Before the show was axed by NBC, Rake had revealed he had a six-season plan for the show.

While this plan couldn’t be fully realised - even with Netflix giving the show a fourth and final season - a spin-off may be able to explore some of the storylines that had to be cut.

It’s also possible that the new spin-off might shift away from Manifest’s main characters and instead focus more on expanding the show’s universe.

Manifest fans in the UK can stream seasons 1, 2 and 4 on Netflix now. Meanwhile, season 3 is available to stream via Sky and NOW TV.

The first three seasons are also available to purchase on various digital platforms, including Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play Movies and Sky Store.
